How to avoid Sunday blues?

Modern times have created a better life for us, filled with luxuries and privileges that our ancestors didn’t have. But with these privileges come stress, anxiety and other things that are destroing the quality of our free time.

Sunday night anxiety is really a form of negative anticipation. We think ahead instead of being present in the moment. To avoid that, you should change the way you spend Sundays. Therefore, I’m going to briefly list some tips that have helped me to love Sundays.

1. Start the day with sport, I’m not saying with an hour of sport, but at least 10 minutes, e.g yoga or just even stretch. Also meditate for at least 10 minutes. You don’t need to be a meditation pro, just take your time and sit with your back straight, for a few minutes. Take a few deep and conscious breaths. Then start thanking God for everything you have, thank Him for every part of your body, starting from your head to your toes.

2. Spend your Sunday with your loved ones without worrying about Monday and next week’s commitments. Be present, enjoy your time.

3. Create a clean environment in your home. Environmental cleanliness is closely related to mental health. Always think that you can do a certain job within the time you set yourself. So, set 1 hour or a reasonable time to clean and prepare your clothes for the week ahead.

4. Take a walk in nature and feel how perfect nature is. Contemplate nature and let it unfold its amazing effect on you.

5. Read that book you want to read. Even just for a few minutes.

6. Treat yourself to foods you love. You can even prepare the food, it relaxes you, increases your concentration and makes you be more present.

7. Find an activity that you want to do and do it every Sunday so that you look forward to Sunday’s arrival and consequently the feeling of laziness for the start of the next week goes away.

Make Sundays the best days of the week, dance, sing, take a bath and don’t forget to think about how lucky you are to have a job that brings you income.
